Ainsley Hawthorn is a widely published historian whose work uses insights from the past to help make sense of current events. Her award-winning writing has been translated into eight languages, licensed for use in textbooks and standardized tests, and cited in a petition before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Hawthorn earned her Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Yale, and her academic expertise includes ancient Near Eastern literature and religion, Middle Eastern dance, sensory studies, and past pandemics. Now, as a non-fiction writer and public speaker, she fuses her research background with storytelling to bring the past to life for her audiences.
She has experience managing research teams, teaching at the university level, leading non-profit organizations, and jurying literary awards and grant applications. She is based in St. John's, NL, but is available to travel with reimbursement. Many services can also be offered virtually.
